Epilogue Editing's End-Of-Year Celebration and Intention Setting
You're invited! (And last call for gift ideas!)
Hi friends,
A week or two ago I asked the AcWriMo folks on Slack if they had any non-political podcasts to recommend, because every time I go back to my old standbys my heart starts pounding and my palms start sweating. A friend recommended Normal Gossip, and I’m obsessed. It’s hilarious, it’s not mean-spirited or snarky, and whatever you think about people…it pretty much confirms. It really speaks into this moment for me.
Yesterday I was driving to pick up a kid from somewhere and listening to an episode as I was writing this blogpost in my head and thinking about how I would tell y’all how grateful I was for all of you (multitasking!) and the co-host said: “my therapist keeps telling me to have a gratitude list instead of an enemies list, but my enemies list keeps me motivated.” So you know, here’s to enemies keeping us sharp! (I am grateful for this community though—very!)
Winding down 2024, winding up to 2025
This week, as we wind down the month of November, I’m thinking of transitions. What do I need to do in December to get myself ready for whatever I am going to create for myself in 2025? I have some ideas, and I want to hear yours!
You’re warmly invited to join us for a free celebration/intention setting on December 2 from 3-4 pm eastern time. We’ll celebrate what there is to celebrate from 2024 (AcWriMo goals! Books! Jobs! Articles! Grants! Saying no to things! Taking risks!) and figure out what we want to bring into 2025. If you didn’t do AcWriMo this year and would like to join, just write your email address here and I’ll send you the link. Bring a timezone-appropriate drink to toast with!
While I have you here…
Last call to contribute to the first annual (?) Epilogue Editing end-of-year guide! Y’all are always suggesting such lovely things to each other on Slack and in writing groups. Did you write something amazing this year? Read something incredible? Buy really soft yarn or work with an exciting Etsy artist or go to a fantastic cooking retreat? Put it here on this form and I’ll compile a list to share with the good people of this newsletter. Brag about yourself! Treat yourself! Tell us about your cousin’s cute animal portrait sidegig! This year, of all years, we deserve a little end-of-year treat. And if you need inspiration for your own list, Mirya’s guide is always my favorite. I already bought myself at least one thing and have bookmarked several more.)
Sending lots of love,
Kelly
What’s going on around here
Editing: I’m accepting new projects to edit in 2025! My editing calendar fills up three-to-six months in advance, so if you have something you’re hoping to get edited, this is a great time to chat about it.
Also! This is the last week for discounted registration to the writers’ circles. I hope you’ll join us in the spring!
Spring 2025 Writers’ Circles (January-March 2025)
Small groups of no more than eight people focused on creating the conditions to write more, and more effectively. With a separate cohort for mid-career scholars (1 spot left in both workshops—sign up today to reserve your spot, or to be put on a waitlist for a potential third section).
So You Want to Write A Book?
A unique hybrid workshop dedicated to supporting writers throughout their book writing journey. Join us in early 2025 for workshops on book proposals and revision, or start with a new cohort in May.
