Friends!
Please forgive me the rare promotional post. I wanted to share my new book writing workshop, introduce myself to the new subscribers (hi everyone!) and let you all know about a few new things we have up our sleeves. As always, please feel free to share all of this excitement with anyone in your circles that might be looking for some help with their writing.
So You Want to Write a Book? Epilogue Editing Book Workshop
Ever since I started book coaching, I’ve wanted to design a course to support the book writing process from beginning to end. I’m thrilled to present “So You Want to Write a Book?” a yearlong workshop designed to provide you with all of the tools you need to get that book written and into the world. Book writing is hard, especially for people who live complicated lives. This workshop will help you get your book written, revised, and in the hands of readers.
This program is built around the idea that people need two things to write a book: the knowledge, craft, and skillset that goes into writing, and then space, time, and accountability to actually get that writing done. This workshop provides you with both. It’s intended both for people who have a great idea for a book but haven’t made much progress yet (if you’ve heard that the second book is the hardest one to write, I can assure you that it’s true), and for people who have made some progress on a manuscript but need guidance to get the book submitted.
The workshop runs from May 2024 through May 2025. The hybrid model is built around three-day-long meetings in May, August, January, and April; monthly check-ins/office hours; weekly co-writing sessions; and daily support on Slack so you’re never far from the book—or your community. You can also add one-on-one meetings and editing with me.
You also have the option to join every quarter, so if the May start date doesn’t work, you’re very welcome to apply on a quarterly basis.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know! Let’s write all the books!
All of the details you need, including scheduling and payment logistics, are here, and you can apply here.
Epilogue Editing is Growing
I’m also thrilled to share that Epilogue Editing is growing. For new readers, I am Kelly Clancy, the owner of Epilogue Editing. I have a PhD in political science, I provide editing and consulting to folks (primarily) in the social sciences and humanities, and I also host a variety of workshops and retreats related to writing. Y’all keep me busy, so I’ve been brainstorming ways to include as many people as possible in our community while continuing to supporting great writing in a way that feels authentic to me.
I’m excited to announce three new services:
—Real-time one-on-one editing meetings, perfect for talking through a tricky passage or getting instant feedback on something that is troubling you (we’ll have a calendar sign up soon, but for now just email epilogueediting@gmail.com to schedule a consultation);
—Expanded editing and consulting services for scholars who for whom English is an additional language, including dissertation support;
—Editing and consulting services for academics looking for alternatives to academic jobs.
Which brings me to exciting announcement number two: these new services will be spearheaded by Jim Baker. Jim holds a PhD in cultural geography and has spent his career working with international scholars in numerous capacities. He’s an outstanding addition to the team, and I’m thrilled that we’ll be able to increase our ability to support scholars doing great writing.
For my existing clients, nothing will change—and thanks, as always, for helping me build this great community.
ApWriMo—A Free Writing Challenge!
If you’re looking ahead for some end-of-semester accountability and camaraderie, sign up for our free AprWriMo challenge, where we’ll write together every day from April 15-April 30. We’ll also have a full-day minimalist writing retreat on April 19, where we’ll open Zoom up at 8 am eastern, and keep it open until 8 pm or the last person logs off. Sign up here. It’ll be great, I promise. (If you’ve already applied, I’ll send out info soon).
More soon friends! As always, if you have any questions, you know where to find me! And if you have friends or colleagues who would like be interested in any of these, please share and forward.
With lots of love and and the very best wishes for a happy Leap Day (and a nudge to submit that zombie project!),
Kelly
